Latest Test and Measurement NewsLow Cost Power Supply for High Current Applications18 April 2011 – B&K Precision has added five new value-priced DC power supplies to their product offering: models 1693, 1694, 1900, 1901, and 1902. These new switch mode power supplies provide current up to 60 amps and power up to 960 watts. With a complement of diverse features, these new DC power supplies are suitable for use in production testing, R&D, service, and university labs. With their lightweight and compact forms, models 1693 and 1694 join current model 1692–B&K Precision’s previous constant voltage power supply–adding additional voltage and current configurations, remote sensing terminals, and an auxiliary output. At 900 watts output, the 1693 and 1694 also provide a variable voltage output from 1 to 15 V at 60 A and 1 to 30 V at 30 A, respectively. For increased power density and value-added features such as constant current mode, users can choose from models 1900, 1901, and 1902. In addition to their wide range of voltage and current configurations, and auxiliary output, these models offer rotary encoder knobs for precise level setting, and user-defined presets for quick recall of common test parameters. A dependable switch mode power supply must offer solid load and line regulation with low output noise. B&K Precision incorporated these criteria into the design of these new power supplies, while keeping the price points within users' budgets. Additionally, the new models have several features typically not found in non-programmable power supplies. All models include an analog remote control terminal that allows for external adjustment of the variable output voltage or current, and bright 3-digit LED displays for accurate and highly readable indication of both voltage and current settings. Models 1693, 1694, and 1900 also feature remote sensing capability to compensate for voltage drops due to any load lead resistances. Protection circuitry is paramount for a reliable power supply–all five models offer overtemperature protection, current foldback circuitry to prevent overloading, and overvoltage protection. These reliable DC power supplies provide high power and high current performance at low cost per watt affordability. Available for immediate delivery, models 1693 and 1694 are priced at $479 and models 1900, 1901, and 1902 at $599. www.bkprecision.comRelated Articles: |
