News - Board and System TestGCF-validated 5G RedCap Conformance Test Cases20 June 2023 - Rohde & Schwarz has successfully validated 5G RedCap (reduced capability) test cases for its R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester and R&S TS8980 conformance test system for the recent Conformance Agreement Group (CAG) #74 meeting, allowing the Global Certification Forum (GCF) to activate the respective work items in their device certification program. Manufacturers of IoT chipsets, modems and end devices as well as test houses can now rely on tried-and-tested Rohde & Schwarz solutions for 387 5G RedCap test cases in all device production stages, from early R&D to type approval conformance testing. Wi-Fi 7 TRX Tests for Wireless Communications Devices Production Line12 June 2023 - Anritsu Corporation extended its range of test solutions for manufacturing wireless communications devices. The Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A / MT8872A supports Wi-Fi 7 TRX tests by software options of the WLAN 802.11be TX Measurement MX887034A and WLAN 802.11be Waveforms MV887034A. The MT8870A/MT8872A has excellent test features for manufacturing inspection of various wireless communications equipment, modules, etc., while also supporting all prior Wi-Fi TRX test standards (IEEE 802.11b/g/a/n/ac/ax). Cooperation on 6G Research08 June 2023 - The Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN, Lille, France) and Rohde & Schwarz have expanded their collaboration to research THz communications that utilize photonic technologies. In a recent demonstration, IEMN reached a milestone when researchers achieved generated a 300 GHz bidirectional link over an outdoor distance of 645 m for use in future 6G backhauling scenarios. The R&S SMA100B microwave signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz was a crucial component in the performance test setup. The R&S SMA100B provides an ultra-low phase noise signal that helps accelerate THz communications research and development to ready it for industrialization. High-Power Triple Output Battery Testing and Recycling Devices02 June 2023 – EA Elektro-Automatik introduced the EA-BT 20000 Triple Battery Tester, the only battery tester instrument with three channels and the highest voltage and current outputs. The new instruments can test up to three battery cells, modules or packs simultaneously with the power capacity of 4 kW/channel, 6 kW/channel and 10 kW/channel. Furthermore, to test higher capacity batteries, the channels can be paralleled to test 12 kW, 18 kW, and 30 kW battery packs. The EA-BT 20000 Triple series consists of eight models with voltage outputs from 10 V to 920 V and current outputs/channels of 40 A to 600 A. First PCI Express 6.0 Interposer for OCP NIC 3.0 Devices31 May 2023 - Teledyne LeCroy announced availability of a PCI Express 6.0 Enterprise and Data Center Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) Open Compute Project (OCP) interposer module and Network Interface Card (NIC) 3.0 adapter kit, to be used with Teledyne LeCroy's PCIe protocol analyzers. It allows to test Open Compute Project NIC 3.0 devices with PCIe, NVMe, or CXL at speeds up to 64GT/s. Signal Generators and Analyzers approved for 5G RAN Platforms30 May 2023 - The R&S SMW200A and R&S SMM100A vector signal generators and the R&S FSW and R&S FPS signal and spectrum analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz have been approved by Qualcomm for testing the Qualcomm QRU100 5G RAN Platform – an O-RAN compliant solution with architecture flexibility designed to facilitate scalable and cost-effective 5G network deployments. OEMs providing RUs for Open RAN infrastructure adopting the Qualcomm QRU100 5G RAN Platform can be confident that these Rohde & Schwarz solutions meet the necessary sub-6 GHz test requirements for design verification and production. Software-Defined Battery Lab Solution26 May 2026 - NI, formerly known as National Instruments, launched a Software-Defined Battery Lab solution. Designed for electric vehicle battery validation labs, the new offering covers the entire, sustainable battery lifecycle from research and development to validation, production, second-life, and remanufacturing. The Software-Defined Battery Lab solution supports EV manufacturers and battery suppliers in tackling the pressing challenges of time-to-market, cost, and battery performance. NI’s offering prioritizes an open, software-connected approach to enable flexible, automated, and intelligent test strategies from an individual battery validation workbench to global lab deployment.
