AOI System with integrated 3D Solder Paste Inspection

23 November 2010 - GOEPEL electronic presents a new version of its inline AOI system OptiCon AdvancedLine and of the AOI system software OptiCon PILOT. Special emphasis was placed on the opportunity to increase the inspection area as well as an easy access to the system components during maintenance works.

One of the concept’s flexible extensions is the integration opportunity of a 3D detector head for solder paste inspection. The configured OptiCon PasteInspector 3D enables the exact three-dimensional measuring of the solder paste presence with regard to height, volume, mismatch and smearing. The combination of the 3D solder paste inspection and AOI in one system provides an efficient and versatile utilisation for comprehensive quality assurance in the production process. For pure 3D solder paste inspection tasks, the OptiCon PasteInspector 3D is available for inline and stand-alone applications also without the AOI module.

New AOI Software Version

Also Goepel electronic introduced the latest version of the AOI system software OptiCon PILOT 5.1. It features significant innovations with regards to ease of use as well as fast test program generation and optimisation. At the very heart there is the integrated debug statistics that captures and displays AOI relevant variations in the production process, and enables their statistic evaluations. The visualisation of relevant parameters as well the comfortable adjustment of graphical operator inputs effect a revolutionary simplification of test program optimisation processes. At the same time, the utilised statistic basis increases safety in view of maximum fault detection at minimal false-call rate. In addition to an increased inspection safety, economic benefits result from a significant time reduction in transferring generated programs into the production process.

OptiCon PILOT 5.1 features another highlight: the unique function easyOCR enables the reading of component markings (e.g. on ICs, chip resistors and PCBs) without character teaching. The only operator action is drawing a frame per mouse around the text to be read. Based on an extended data basis as well as a fault tolerant reading algorithm, alphanumeric character markings of any kind can be read with highly reliable recognition and provided as character string. The intelligent read function, integrated in OptiCon PILOT 5.1 allows for a selective text comparison in combination with alternative defaults later on. Of course this function is available as library entree for the automatic test program generation based on placement data.
