Automated and intuitive ECU Testing

dspace AutomationDesk30 July 2015 - AutomationDesk, the test automation software from dSPACE, brings numerous innovations with the release of its latest version, AutomationDesk 5.0. The new version significantly modernizes how ECU testing is performed. Its new signal-based test description makes it possible to quickly create and execute clear, intuitive tests. New features of AutomationDesk 5.0 enable efficient testing of complex camera-based advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

AutomationDesk 5.0 introduces signal-based tests, a new type of test description that is as easy to create as if it were on a sheet of paper. The tool's plotter-like editor lets the users intuitively describe stimulus signals and reference signals for simulation variables. The documentation of the performed tests provides a report with vivid plots and parameter information.

As for the previous version, AutomationDesk 4.1, TÜV SÜD confirms that AutomationDesk 5.0 is also suitable for testing safety-critical functions on all Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL), from ASIL A to D, as described by the ISO 26262 standard. Together with the AutomationDesk Safety Manual, an additional user documentation on using AutomationDesk in safety-relevant projects, the TÜV SÜD certificate makes it significantly easier for users to achieve classification, qualification and validation of their product development process, in accordance with the functional safety standards ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.

AutomationDesk 5.0 can now remote-control MotionDesk, dSPACE's 3-D animation software for validating mechatronic systems. MotionDesk is used to visualize test maneuvers, traffic and test environments for vehicles. This new remote-control capability simplifies tasks such as testing camera-based driver assistance systems by automatically importing various customer-defined test scenarios into MotionDesk.

AutomationDesk 5.0 supports the new ASAM XIL standard and enables simulation-system-independent test descriptions and control of electric fault simulation. AutomationDesk can now be used for automated testing in all stages of software development (MIL, SIL, HIL) and with all test systems that support the ASAM XIL standard.
