X-Ray Inspection System keeps Pace with Production Cycle

19 January 2016 - With a new version of the X-ray system software PILOT AXI, GOEPEL electronic opens up new possibilities for combined X-ray and optical inspection (AXOI) of complex assemblies. Several new functions now provide the user of the X-Line 3D with even more test coverage at high speeds for the user.

The core element of the new software is the debug statistics. Test programs can be optimized based on statistical measures, which extremely shortens the time for test program debugging. Fail and Pass production data (photos and measurements) can be archived long term due to intelligent data management. In this way, end users can perform, amongst others, Big Data analytics. Also the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for components has been improved: Lettering can be identified entirely without a learning process, regardless of the font type or size. Furthermore, detection of component polarities is easier than before due to reduced parameters. A new laser height measurement function enables measurement of the coplanarity of components as well as the insertion depth of connectors.

In addition to the wealth of new test functions of the system software, PILOT allows connection to the inspection interface PILOT Connect. The System links the data from automatic optical, X-ray and solder paste inspection. The inspection data are collected and managed centrally on a verification and repair station. This allows a secure assessment of the errors, optimizes the production process and reduces production costs.
