OTDR Tool for Field Network Installation and Maintenance

Anritsu-MT908319 September 2012 – Anritsu introduces the next generation ACCESS Master field portable OTDR.  Based on its leading MT9083 series ACCESS Master OTDRs, the next generation MT9083 provides even more of the features required by field technicians, engineers and contractors. A larger, higher resolution 7 inch TFT display with excellent indoor/outdoor performance is now standard providing users with greater readability – even in direct sunlight.

New function keys below the display also provide “shortcuts” to easily switch between trace and event table views or easily jump from one event to the next further simplifying operation.

Optical performance has also been improved on the next generation ACCESS Master series once again pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. They feature up to 150,000 data points for accurate mapping of events, deadzones of less than 1 meter (3 feet) and dynamic range up to 46dB to ensure accurate and complete fiber evaluation of any network type – premise to access, metro to core…including PON-based FTTX networks featuring up to an industry leading 1x128 split. Dynamic range and performance of mid-range pulsewidths are also enhanced to provide better resolution eliminating the need to test at multiple pulsewidths saving time and simplifying testing. In addition, all models now feature user selectable high resolution (HR) or enhanced range (ER) operation allowing the user to customize the unit to their needs. Add in power meter, stabilized light source, loss test set, and connector inspection microscope options and the new MT9083 OTDR clearly evolves far beyond other handheld OTDRs.

Other key specifications have also been improved making it better equipped for the field. Weight has been reduced to just 5.7 pounds (2.6kg) including battery and all options plus battery life is now up to 12 hours. Operating temperature range has also been increased to ensure the ACCESS Master is ready anytime, anywhere.
