Simplified Indoor Small Cell and Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Testing

JDSU-TrueSite17 February 2014 - RANAdvisor TrueSite is a tablet-based solution from JDSU that enables installation and troubleshooting of indoor cell site and DAS deployments. With TrueSite, a single user can quickly identify missing and/or faulty antennas, macro ingress issues, and network performance problems in real-time with data gathered from smartphones and a receiver — all from a convenient portable messenger bag.

Until now, technicians have had to perform lengthy data captures, followed by post-processing to identify problems. Further, they must repeat the process if they identify a problem during post-processing, wasting valuable resources, time, and money. TrueSite minimizes repeat testing by informing the user of problems in real-time during the capture, enabling to take corrective action immediately.

Key Benefits

  • Ensure optimal service at public events: Quickly validate new or existing indoor network deployments prior to a major event or after making network changes. TrueSite helps engineers identify and resolve problems with a single site visit.
  • Understand your competitive position: Easily compare the performance of various devices on the same network, or the same devices on different networks.
  • Rapidly identify missing or faulty antennas: Many factors during the construction of a DAS system can cause sector faults, such as nonpowered cells and noncabled or improperly cabled antennas (swapped sectors.) Detecting these faults in real-time during capture helps to resolve problems immediately, saving hours in getting the network up and running.
  • Balance your macro and DAS resources: Macro ingress occurs when an outdoor macro cell is received at an excessive level compared to the indoor DAS network, resulting in indoor users being served by the macro network, rather than the DAS network. TrueSite highlights these issues in real-time so you can adjust power levels to move the users onto the DAS network and balance your resources.
