Polaris Networks and Signalion announce collaboration for LTE Test

23 August 2010 - Polaris Networks Inc., USA and Signalion GmbH, Germany, both leaders in providing test solutions for Wireless Infrastructure manufacturers and operators announced a collaboration between the two companies. As a result of this collaboration, the companies would launch comprehensive test solutions for LTE Access equipment.

Polaris Networks has a long history in developing conformance and performance test tools for telecom and wireless technologies. The company has developed a series of software tools, network equipment emulators and functional testers for eNodeB, MME, S-GW, PDN-GW. These are used by operators and manufacturers to validate LTE network core and core network interfaces of the LTE eNodeB, for functional conformance and performance testing.

Signalion has been a pioneer in providing air-interface test solutions to LTE infrastructure equipment manufacturers. Its SORBAS 3GPP-LTE Test UE- Platform has been widely adopted by manufacturers and operators for interoperability testing, field trials, and production testing of the LTE base station.

Tim Hentschel, CEO of Signalion, commenting on this collaboration said “Signalion has consistently strived to anticipate future test requirements of its customers and develop test platforms that are ahead of time. The SORBAS 3GPP LTE-UE-Platform, when introduced, was the first LTE Test-UE in the market and quickly accepted by base station manufacturers for air interface testing. With rapid development in LTE, our partnership with Polaris will help us extend the test capabilities of the SORBAS Test-UE and meet specialized testing needs of our customers.”

“This partnership between the two companies will enable us to combine our respective strengths and existing test products, to quickly deliver solutions that will meet testing requirements for LTE Access equipment right from research and development to production and deployment”, said Bud Biswas CEO of Polaris Networks.

The eNodeB test solution will provide protocol layer testing of functional requirements through a library of automated tests. It will also cover scenarios for load test, stress test and scalability test. Apart from surrounding the eNodeB from all interfaces, this combined test solution will enable end-to-end simulation, whereby access equipment manufacturers and operators can test the performance of their LTE base stations using voice and data applications.

The companies would be demonstrating their first joint eNodeB Test solution at the 4G World event to be held in Chicago during October 18-21, 2010.
