Advantest launches Production at new Factory in South Korea

23 May 2013 - Advantest Corporation announced that its new factory in Cheonan, South Korea, has been completed. Production of test handlers - used in conjunction with testers in semiconductor manufacturing - began last week. The new factory boasts a monthly production capacity of 80 test handlers and 40 probe cards.

The new factory comprises a two-storey building and a basement area with a total area 39,821 m2. It represents an investment of approximately 50 billion won ($44 million).

Advantest announced the relocation of its handler and device interface production to South Korea in 2012 in recognition of the country’s importance as a center of semiconductor manufacturing. The new factory will enable the company to align its operations more precisely with customer needs. It also represents an expansion of production capacity that is expected to further improve the Advantest Group’s competitiveness in the global arena.
