News - Component TestBattery Impedance Measurement within Micro-Ohm range10 February 2011 - FuelCon has enhanced its TrueData-EIS electrochemical impedance spectrum analyzer, allowing now measurements within Micro-Ohm impedance range. Impedance spectroscopy plays a major role especially for battery characterization by providing, amongst others, information about quality or deterioration behaviour.
The lately observable trend of Li-Ion batteries towards higher capacities implies significant smaller internal resistances inside the cell. This means, measurements within decreasingly measuring ranges and very high accuracy are needed. For achieving fast and precise evaluation of those small impedances, the AC modulation current must increase during galvanostatic measurements in order to receive a respectively higher voltage response. With the enhanced TrueData-EIS of FuelCon the modulation current can be varied in a range between 2.5A and 10A, depending on the requirements. Even at very low frequencies, this ensures accurate measuring of impedances within 2 periods. Optionally, the device provides impedance analysis without DC offset, which means test item’s state of charge (SOC) will be unchanged. With this flexibility, the TrueData-EIS can be easily integrated into existing testing systems. www.fuelcon.comRelated Articles: |
