News - General T&MEmerson acquired NI25 April 2023 – Emerson and NI announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Emerson will acquire NI for $60 per share in cash at an equity value of $8.2 billion. Emerson already owns approximately 2.3 million shares of NI, representing approximately 2% of shares outstanding. NI provides software-connected automated test and measurement systems that enable enterprises to bring products to market faster and at a lower cost. NI had $1.66 billion in 2022 revenue and operates in more than 40 countries, serving approximately 35,000 customers across semiconductor and electronics, transportation, and aerospace and defense markets. Datalogger Software now also supports Online Energy Analysis24 April 2023 - The new release IPEmotion 2023 R1 of the data logger software of Ipetronik offers a variety of new features. Among the most important ones is the new "Online Power Calculation" function, which enables the use of predefined power calculations for measurement tasks and data analysis. In addition, IPEmotion 2023 R1 now supports a new storage mode for the recording of snapshot data. Furthermore, the traffic to signal function has been improved. Vision System for fast, accurate AI-based Inspections20 April 2023 - Cognex Corporation released the In-Sight 3800 Vision System. Designed for high-speed production lines, In-Sight 3800 offers an extensive vision toolset, powerful imaging capabilities, and flexible software to deliver a fully integrated solution for a wide range of inspection applications. The In-Sight 3800 offers twice the processing speeds of previous systems, performing tasks like a quality inspection in as little as one-third of a blink of the eye. Background: The Challenges of moving to 6G and sub-Terahertz TechnologyAs ever in the world of global communications and IT, while industry grapples to adopt the latest technology, developers are already looking beyond at the next ‘wave’, looking at what will be needed in five to 10 years’ time. Wireless network operators – and indeed users – have always been acutely aware of restrictions in bandwidth for channel capacity (Hz) and of the increasingly crowded radio spectrum. It wasn’t so long ago that 3G with its 5 MHz bandwidth was considered adequate but that soon gave way to 4G (20MHz). As we know, 4G has been superseded by 5G with bandwidths of up to 8x100MHz and 5G is the network technology that many are still making the transition towards. As industry (and the public) make this switch, it’s already clear that spectrum space is becoming seriously limited. So we need to go further – we need to look to 6G. Modular Development & Verification Platform13 Arpil 2023 - Saelig Company introduced the SpectraTronix C700 Modular Radio Development Platform - a system of mix-and-match RF modules for quickly creating almost any software-defined digital radio or analog, digital or arbitrary modulated RF system. Designed specifically to bring fast results and flexibility to RF system designers and educators, selecting appropriate ready-made RF building-block modules allows users to test RF design concepts without diverting time and resources to creating and troubleshooting custom RF boards. C700 modules offer a frequency range from 0.4GHz to 6GHz, can provide 1 to 1000 channels, and 1 with an IQ resolution of 16 bits and wide IQ bandwidth up to 40MHz. Unified Digital Learning Platform for University Engineering Programs11 April 2023 - Keysight Technologies introduced the Keysight Digital Learning Suite, a new unified digital learning platform that provides university engineering educators and students with lab tools, resources, and courseware through a single, secure web interface. In response to demands for flexible learning options, universities are moving from in-person education to digital and hybrid learning models. Although these new models provide unprecedented flexibility for time and location, there are still challenges for engineering educators. They often find themselves pressured to compete against each other to provide the highest quality education for their universities. Many educators also find themselves trying to balance their own research work against teaching demands that require time spent on curriculum development, administrative activities, and managing engineering resources. Benchtop Multi-range DC Power Supplies07 April 2023 - B&K Precision announced the 9240 Series Multi-Range DC Power Supplies. This series combines an easy-to-use interface with advanced list programming features, battery charge mode, and data logging to serve a wide range of applications including production test, R&D, electronics servicing, and education. Consisting of three models, the 9240 Series provides up to 200 W of clean output power in a compact 2U half-rack form factor. Multi-range operation provides the maximum power at any Volt/Amp combination within the rated voltage and current limits (up to 60 V or 10 A). More Articles ...
