News - General T&MFortive to acquire EA Elektro-Automatik30 October 2023 - Fortive Corporation announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire EA Elektro-Automatik Holding GmbH (EA), a supplier of high-power electronic test solutions for energy storage, mobility, hydrogen, and renewable energy applications, for $1.45 billion in cash, net of $215 million of tax benefits from Bregal Unternehmerkapital. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in early first quarter of 2024. GHz-speed Digitizer Systems with up to 16 Channels27 October 2023 - A new option from Spectrum Instrumentation offers a user-friendly way to create multi-channel data acquisition systems with ultrafast sampling speeds up to 10 GS/s. Called Star-Hub, the option allows up to 8 of the company’s flagship PCIe digitizers (M5i.33xx series) to be connected together. Individual cards then share common clock and trigger signals, which ensures there is minimal phase delay and timing skew between all the channels. The Star-Hub option is installed by mounting a single piggyback module onto any of the M5i series cards in the multi-channel system. Using accurately matched and shielded coax cabling, the board then distributes the clock to each module and precisely synchronizes the trigger event with the system clock. Emerson completes Acquisition of NI24 October 2023 – Emerson announced it has closed its acquisition of NI (National Instruments), a provider of software-connected automated test and measurement systems, at an equity value of $8.2 billion. The acquisition of NI advances Emerson’s position as a global automation leader and expands its opportunity to capitalize on key secular trends like nearshoring, digital transformation, and sustainability and decarbonization. NI brings a portfolio of software, control and intelligent devices that is expected to accelerate Emerson’s revenue growth aligned to its 4-7% through the cycle organic growth target. Rohde & Schwarz expands Executive Board23 October 2023 — Andreas Pauly, previously Head of the Test & Measurement Division, joined the Rohde & Schwarz Executive Board as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on October 1, 2023. With three members, the Executive Board is now well positioned to keep the company on course for growth. Christina Gessner has taken over as Head of the Test & Measurement Division and is now a member of Rohde & Schwarz Corporate Management. Wiring Analyzers measure 10 GΩ Isolation at 100 V19 October 2023 - CAMI Research, manufacturer of the CableEye automation-ready cable and harness test system, has released an option for its HVX product line permitting leakage measurements of 10 GΩ isolation at a test voltage of 100 Vdc. This new capability will be of special interest to customers requiring extremely high isolation resistance measurements at very low voltages. The option may be ordered with new testers or added as an upgrade to previously purchased systems. Acoustic Measurements in Production Lines18 October 2023 - GRAS Sound & Vibration, part of Axiometrix Solutions, released the new GRAS EQ 40PM-1 microphone with EQset technology. The new microphone will make advanced testing of high-frequency content and accurate testing of louder products available to a larger audience. This will enable more audio manufacturers to match the development of new high-end audio products. In addition, contract manufacturers will find that the microphone’s superior stability helps reduce measurement uncertainty and limits the risk of false passes and false failures on the production line, ultimately increasing product quality and trust with customers. 24-Bit Audio Analyzer with improved Noise and Distortion Performance16 October 2023 - Saelig Company announced the availability of the QA403, the fourth-generation audio analyzer from QuantAsylum. The QA403 extends the functionality of its predecessor the QA402 with improved noise and distortion performance, in addition to a flatter response at band edges. The QA403 is a driverless USB device, so it’s ready as soon as its connected to a PC running the supplied free software, which can run directly from a thumb drive if needed. The QA403 comes with a factory calibration in its flash memory, ensuring consistent unit-to-unit performance for reproducible results on additional analyzers. More Articles ...
