IPETRONIK enhances Configuration and Data Aquisition Software IPEmotion

04 September 2013 – IPETRONIK announced a new release of the IPEmotion configuration and data acquisition software. IPEmotion Release 2013.1 contains a broad range of enhancements and numerous new functions to do an even better and more efficient job collecting data. At a general level, the “Borrow” and “Floating” server-based licensing options are now available.

Since the use of IPEmotion is becoming increasingly widespread, several major OEM customers expressed the desire to be able to manage licenses via a special server. This provides a way to ensure efficient and cost-optimized license management. Customers can now choose between two types of licenses: “Floating” licensing is best suited for working in corporate networks. In this case, the license is only used when the software is started. With “Borrow” licensing, users can transfer the license to their computer for a certain period.

Other important new functions:

Fast program start: An extensive set of enhancements within the software installation routine considerably reduces starting time.

Online Yt-chart analysis: In the Yt-chart, it is possible to analyze signal characteristics directly during live plotting. For this, there are tools available for zooming and for moving, stretching or compressing the axes. The chart features a storage buffer that can be configured in the options, where the user can set the zoom depth and the length of the period that can be called back (history). In addition, the Yt-chart now offers the new “Wiper” view, which can be configured within the context menu for the time axis area. In this mode, it is possible to compare the current measurement curves with the historical measurement values along the time axis, all in the same chart.

A2L / DBC / Autosar Import with a CSV filter: For users who create complex lists of measurement points by importing description files (A2L, DBC, AUTOSAR), these capabilities save a lot of time when comparing the lists. Using a CSV reference file, which contains the channel names, it is possible to check and see if all of the required channels are included in the description file. Matching channels that are included are then automatically activated in the import dialog. Furthermore, the system provides the user with an overview that lists all missing channels.

Pull-down menu for channel names:This menu item now also offers the possibility of establishing a static list of channel names to ensure that the names of important “key channel names” are always written the same way.

New data imports: CSV settings with preview function and Graphtec binary files .gpd: Useful enhancements were also added for data import/export tasks. The new CSV import function is especially convenient. It is now possible to load any number of CSV files into IPEmotion. As a particularly valuable benefit for users, the specific settings for the data format, separator settings and time format can be stored as a format template that makes it possible to perform reoccurring CSV imports quickly. For exports, the software now supports complete channel reference for MDF4 export. For AVI export, the MJPEG and h264 compression techniques are available. In cooperation with the company ALTHEN GmbH Meß- und Sensortechnik, for instance, the IPEmotion import capabilities for binary files were expanded to incorporate the “Graphtec” series of data logger models, including GL220, GL820, GL900 and the new GL7000 series.

Analysis, free cursor and statistics: The IPEmotion software offers powerful capabilities for offline data analysis. In IPEmotion Release 2013.1, the statistics window has been expanded to include calculation of the number of measurement points between the cursors. It is now possible to set the cursor position via time-stamp entry. As an alternative, users can also use the free cursor and position it outside the data points. Furthermore, the report has been supplemented to include a fully customizable coversheet.
