News - General T&MOptical Modulation Analysis System18 Apriil 2012 - LeCroy Corporation announced that it will launch an Optical Modulation Analyzer (OMA) to work in conjunction with their WaveMaster and LabMaster series of real-time oscilloscopes featuring real-time bandwidths up to 60 GHz. The new OMA will be debuted at the ECOC Exhibition, Amsterdam, Sept. 17-19th, 2012. LeCroy and Southern Photonics have entered into a collaborative agreement to develop a new version of the Southern Photonics' IQScope optimized for operation with LeCroy high bandwidth real-time oscilloscopes such as the LabMaster 10 Zi platform. The current IQScope has been designed for use with equivalent-time oscilloscopes and extending its use to real-time applications will permit developers of coherent optical systems to develop, test and validate new technologies and algorithms for higher speed, more efficient transmission systems. The LabMaster 10 Zi platform provides a real-time bandwidth of 60 GHz with a sampling rate of 160 GS/s. In addition, LeCroy's ChannelSync architecture provides four fully synchronized input channels at the maximum 60 GHz of bandwidth. When used with the real-time version of the IQScope detailed characterization of coherently modulated, polarization multiplexed optical signals becomes readily achievable. "The high data-rates that are obtainable from optical modulation techniques are setting the foundation for the 100 Gbps and faster systems demanded by the market. Research and development in this field is being conducted across the globe, and as the leader in high data-rate signal measurement tools, the addition of this Optical Modulation Analysis system to our product portfolio will enable us to strengthen this position and support the advanced technology research," stated David Graef, LeCroy VP and Chief Technology Officer. "This system will enable detailed characterization of formats such as DP-QPSK and dual polarization 16-QAM enabling data rates approaching 1Tbps," continued Graef. “The IQScope platform enables the phase and amplitude information to be extracted with unparalleled accuracy. The LabMaster GUI and WaveShape analysis tools enable users to rapidly extract all the key information from this vast amount of data. The new OMA is going to be an extremely valuable tool to the R&D community in this field", summarized Mr. Graef. "We are very proud to be associated with the LeCroy brand" stated John Harvey, Southern Photonics Chief Executive Officer. "It is synonymous with precision, quality and technology leadership. The IQScope is the first product on our path to being a complete Coherent Solutions provider. The LeCroy OMA real-time variant of this platform is another great step towards this goal". www.LeCroy.com www.southernphotonics.com Related Articles: |
