News - Board and System TestOver-the-air (OTA) Test System upgrades to Measure 802.11ax Extended Band28 March 2022 – ETS-Lindgren added support for sixth generation Wi-Fi, 801.11ax in the newly available 6E or extended 6 GHz band. Test systems can be equipped to measure total radiated power (TRP) and total isotropic sensitivity (TIS) in the 6E band with the addition of RF path hardware and instrument drivers for CTIA-compliant EMQuest Antenna Measurement Software. Two 802.11ax capable network emulators are supported, the CMW500 from Rohde & Schwarz and the MT8862A from Anritsu. OTA systems that are upgraded for 6E support will be backward compatible with all previous Wi-Fi generations; these upgrades will not interfere with other technologies such as 4G or 5G cellular that may also be supported. Simulation and Testing of 5G Automotive Applications24 March 2022 - Anritsu Corporation and dSPACE demonstrated the integration of PC-based simulation systems with sensor-realistic simulation in a 5G network emulator at the Mobile World Congress 2022 (MWC). The joint showcase demonstrated how to avoid collisions between vehicles and objects or people in intersections with limited visibility. The example application used in the demonstration is the advanced intersection collision warning (AICW). Verification of Mobility Enhancements in 5G New Radio Rel-1617 March 2022 - Keysight Technologies announced that the company's S8704A Protocol Conformance Toolset was used to submit the industry's first 5G new radio (NR) release 16 (Rel-16) test case for verifying mobility enhancements in 5G NR devices to 3GPP, the global standards organization. Once approved by 3GPP, 5G device makers can leverage the Rel-16 test capability delivered by Keysight's Protocol Conformance Toolset to speed market introductions of advanced 5G NR features. Mobility enhancement in 3GPP Rel-16 have been added to improve reliability, which is especially important in fast-mobility use cases such as when the mobile phone user is travelling on board trains. All-in-One 5G NR Test Coverage14 March 2022 – Anritsu Corporation launched a new modular RF hardware upgrade 0.4-7.125GHz Enhanced RF Module MT8000A-033 option for the Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A, leveraging the modular architecture to facilitate extended all-in-one 5G NR test coverage. The functionality of existing MT8000A units can be upgraded using this new RF module. 5G Signal Analysis Software for Oscilloscopes11 March 2022 – Tektronix released the SignalVu 5G NR analysis software for its 6 Series B MSO oscilloscopes. Engineers can now perform critical 5G NR measurements per 3GPP specifications on the oscilloscopes they rely on to bring-up and characterize new electronic designs. The 5G software enables engineers to diagnose complex signal interactions on a single oscilloscope, reducing the need for painstaking correlation between instruments. Cooperation on O-RAN Radio Unit Conformance Test Solution09 March 2022 – Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) and Viavi Solutions Inc. (VIAVI) announced they have partnered to offer an integrated solution for conformance testing of O-RAN Radio Units (O-RUs). The two companies have combined their industry-leading capabilities. Central to the joint solution is the O-RU Test Manager which provides a seamless user experience. The solution was demonstrated at MWC Barcelona 2022. Validating Sensors of Autonomous Vehicles in Virtual Test Drives08 March 2022 - dSPACE launched AURELION, a new sensor simulation solution that provides high-resolution visualization for testing and validating functions for autonomous driving. The solution, which can be operated either in the cloud or locally, generates photorealistic images in real time for camera simulation and, using ray tracing, an exact environment for radar and lidar simulation. With AURELION, developers validate algorithms for autonomous driving by means of simulation during virtual test drives, long before a prototype hits the road. More Articles ...
