Evaluation Platform for the Development of safety-critical Systems

12 July 2013 - The SafeTI-HSK kit – developed in close collaboration between Hitex and Texas Instruments – makes functional safety come alive and allows customers to develop designs targeting compliance to IEC 61508 or ISO 26262. The kit provides capabilities for hardware fault injection, application and run-time profiling of fault diagnostics, and system response monitoring in real-time and enables developers to easily test performance of the SafeTI components.

These are especially the Hercules microcontrollers TMS570LS31x and RM48x and the TPS65381-Q1 Power Management Chip as well as the Hercules SafeTI Diagnostic Library. The kit also includes software tools and application examples.

The SafeTI-HSK board comes with two microcontrollers, the Safety MCU and the Control MCU. The Safety MCU executes a safety demo application – monitored by the TPS65381-Q1. The Control MCU in turn enables the communication with the Host Control GUI and serves among other things for the injection of faults and the system’s observation. The safety demo application containes a hardware abstraction layer, the Hercules SafeTI diagnostics library, the pre-certified operating system SAFERTOS from Wittenstein and the user application itself.
