Agilent-U1232AAgilent introduces new Handheld DMMs and enhanced Handheld LCR Meters

16 June 2011 – Agilent Technologies introduced a new line of handheld digital multimeters and extended the capabilities of its handheld LCR meters. The U1230 Series DMMs provide features that simplify everyday tasks even when working in dark and noisy conditions. The U1730C Series LCR meters extend the U1730B models with greater measurement accuracy, broader frequency coverage and wider test ranges.

The new U1231A, U1232A and U1233A models are 3½-digit, 6,000-count DMMs designed for installation and maintenance work in electrical, HVAC and utility settings. In dark spaces or at night, a built-in flashlight lets the user illuminate the work area while making measurements. In noisy environments, the U1230 Series enhances continuity measurements with a unique combination of alerts: loud beeps and a blinking backlight display. These DMMs provide non-contacting AC voltage detection, helping users safely detect and avoid hot wires, and alerting them with beeping/blinking alerts. All models are housed in compact, ergonomic cases and have an easily accessible control dial.

The U1731C, U1732C and U1733C LCR meters let engineers and technicians perform quick, basic measurements at their convenience. Compared to earlier U1730B models, noteworthy enhancements include selectable test frequencies up to 100 kHz (U1733C) and 0.2 percent measurement accuracy. The U1730C Series also includes automatic component identification, which displays the device type and a detailed analysis of parameters such as total impedance, DC resistance and equivalent series resistance.

“We’re constantly looking for new ways to simplify our customers’ day-to-day work, whether they do it at a bench or in dark, noisy conditions,” said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Basic Instrument Division. “As we continue to apply our long tradition of innovation to these instruments, we hope engineers and technicians will begin to retool their expectations of handhelds.”
