High Performance in the entry-level Spectrum Analysis Segment

18 January 2024 - With its SPECTRAN V6 series of real-time spectrum analyzers, Aaronia AG has brought state-of-the-art solutions to the market for a wide range of applications. The experience and know-how gained from these developments has now been incorporated into the latest product, the SPECTRAN V6 ECO. With this USB spectrum analyzer, Aaronia is establishing a new market segment in real-time spectrum analysis.

The frequency range of the SPECTRAN V6 ECO 100XA-6 is between 9 kHz and 6 GHz, optionally 7.25 GHz for Wi-Fi 6E measurements. It offers a real-time bandwidth (RTBW) of 44 MHz or 500 GHz/s sweep speed. For use as a broadband oscilloscope, for example, the power meter input is used. This is integrated into the Rx1 path and can be used simultaneously with the Rx1 input. It has a frequency range of 1 MHz to 8 GHz with an accuracy of +/- 1 dB, an impulse response time of 10 ns and a dynamic range of 70 dB. The ADC (analog-to-digital converter) of the power meter works with a real-time sampling rate of 2.5 MSPS (Mega-Samples Per Second) at 12-bit resolution, which corresponds to a pulse resolution of 400 ns. This enables very fast power monitoring, which can be used, for example, to protect the preamplifier stage by automatically switching it off in the event of an overload. Powermeter functions are used, among other things, in the characterization of RF signals (radio frequency signals), troubleshooting in wireless communication systems, quality control in the production of electronic devices and the analysis of radio transmissions.

The USB spectrum analyzer is connected to a PC or laptop with just one USB cable: Power is supplied via USB PD via the same USB port.

The SPECTRAN V6 ECO 100XA-6 comes with the powerful RTSA-Suite PRO for signal recording and data analysis. Among other things, the software offers the simultaneous display of various 2D and 3D signal visualizations, triggers, AM/FM decoders and IQ processing. In addition, a large number of central functions with a total value of EUR 7,782.00 are already included free of charge in the basic version. These include Filereader and Filewriter for recording and playback of IQ data, remote http or scripts. In addition, there is a wide range of functions to choose from, which can be easily installed later via a software license and thus considerably increase the range of functions of the device or adapt it to changing requirements.

"The RTSA-Suite PRO offers analysis options that cannot be compared with any other solution," says Thorsten Chmielus. "It is not only the flexibility and ease of use of the software due to its modular structure that is impressive, but also the wide range of display and analysis options. Another unique feature is the ability to evaluate and analyze the IQ data recorded in real time in detail at a later date. And all this on standard PCs." If required, several SPECTRAN V6 ECO units can be cascaded to create a phase-coherent broadband recorder solution, for example.

The SPECTRAN V6 ECO 100XA-6 with power meter function including RTSA-Suite PRO is available at a price of 2,748 euros.
